Passion for tradition

I am extremely passionate about the preservation of traditional building techniques and the preservation of historic buildings. Without the former I believe these techniques would be lost. That doesn’t just go for stonemasonry but other crafts as well such as blacksmithing, thatching and woodwork. It is also important that our historical buildings are preserved not just for visitor’s to enjoy but they are the finished product of what traditional building skills, when combined traditional building skills can produce.

In the past I have done some voluntary drystone walling with the Churches Conservation Trust, consolidation of stonework at Hay On Wye Castle and have ‘adopted’ stone B149 at Peterborough Cathedral.

Since last year I have also become a volunteer Church Site Inspector with the Churches Conservation Trust.
